Medical assistants (MAs) in Indiana do not need to obtain national certification in order to work in the field. However, Indiana’s prospective MAs should acquire their high school degree or GED first.
According to the Indiana Department of Workforce Development, MAs are expected to perform a number of assistive tasks. These duties include:
- Scheduling patient appointments
- Collecting and preparing bodily fluids for lab tests
- Administering injections
- Checking patient vital signs
